Perf-form J-509

Manufacturer
Evaluation date
December 2003

This filter was donated to the cause by Jeff C. Thanks!

Even though this Perf-Form filter is manufactured in Korea, it seems to be of acceptable quality. The construction differs from the original that I reviewed in 1999 a little bit, but not much. There is a little too much glue at the bottom of the filter near the bypass valve, but the valve itself is clear of any obstruction. The bypass itself is the first one I've seen that is made of hard plastic.

Too bad it wasn't made in the USA. Oh well.

Update: I've received an email from the management at Perf-Form as well as one of their commercial end-users. It was explained to me that this filter is the only part sourced from Korea, and only for a limited time in 2002. I am told that Perf-Form manufactures all of their filters at their facility in Milford, Iowa. The distributor mentioned that he has over 300 units in stock, and all are labelled as being made in the U.S.A.
